OVERVIEW
The Moroccan navy is primarily charged with the protection of the country's coastline bordering the Mediterranean Sea, Strait of Gibraltar and Atlantic Ocean. Countering the smuggling of people and drugs is a top priority.
The Moroccan navy includes an infantry unit, which consists of two battalions for amphibious missions, and an organic aviation unit. A customs service/coast guard has a fishery protection role during peacetime.
