Command Organization

All important decisions involving Honduras's military, including those regarding doctrine, procurement, and promotion, have traditionally been made collegially by the Supreme Military Council, a body of roughly 30 senior officers. The armed forces commander has generally been selected by an assembly of 57 colonels and generals. The serving Secretary of Defense is Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales.
