OVERVIEW

Since the 1980s, the Mongolian air force has been drastically reduced in terms of personnel and operational units. From a high of three active combat regiments plus transport and support units, the air force now consists of:

  1 transport squadron
  1 helicopter squadron
  1 fighter unit (training and forming)
  2 air defense regiments
