OVERVIEW
The Republic of Seychelles is a nation of islands in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Africa. The 118 islands of the Seychelles are neither large nor tightly clustered, which makes an effective defense of the nation more difficult. On the other hand, the islands' distance from the African mainland and Madagascar offers a defensive barrier.
