OVERVIEW

Malawi, a former British colony in southeast Africa called Nyasaland, is bordered by Tanzania to the north, Zambia to the west and Mozambique to the south and east.

Malawi's land borders are not disputed by its neighbors, but there is a disagreement between Malawi and Tanzania over the maritime boundary in Lake Nyasa (known as Lake Malawi in Malawi).
