The Republic of Kenya has a democratically elected government with an executive president who is chief of state, head of government, and commander in chief of the armed forces. The president is elected for a five-year term. Kenya has a bicameral parliament consisting of a Senate (67 seats) and a National Assembly (349 seats). Like the president, members serve five-year terms.
