The JL-3, also known as Jù Làng Sān, which translates to “Giant Wave,” is China’s submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM). It is designed to be carried by the JIN class (Type 094) SSBN and Type 096 SSBN submarines (which are currently believed to be under construction).
It is believed to have a range of around 5,387.6 nm (6,200 mi, 10,000 km). This represents a major improvement over the older JL-2, which had a range of approximately 3,887.6 nm (4473.8 mi, 7,200 km).
