The S-24 is a high-velocity airborne rocket. It was designed to replace the S-21 and S-21M series in Russian service.
The rocket resembles a slender bomb with four fixed rectangular fins at the rear. It is powered by a solid rocket motor, which burns for 1.1 seconds. Six exhaust tubes are angled to spin the S-24 at 450 rpm.
The nose-mounted blast/fragmentation warhead is fitted with a conical contact fuze. The 271-lb (123-kg) warhead has 52 lb (23.5 kg) of explosive that bursts...
