The CL-289 was an all-weather, corps-level, recoverable surveillance drone. It was similar to the CL-89, but was larger, had greater range, clipped delta wings with ailerons on two of the four surfaces and a longer tailboom. The body was metal, with a plastic nose and tailcone.
Radar signature was reduced through the use of radar-absorbing material and a low radar cross-section contour design.
