The U.S. Navy has achieved a first by firing a Griffin missile from a Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) launcher, reports Raytheon, which builds the missile.
During the demonstration late last year, a Griffin was fired from a land-based launcher at a static target about 2 miles (3 km) away. The GPS- and laser-guided weapon scored a direct hit, according to a Raytheon release this week.
