Panetta Arrives At Cam Ranh Bay, Calls For Closer Defense Ties

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is on a historic trip to Vietnam to discuss deepening ties with that former enemy.

On Sunday, while at a former U.S. base in Cam Rahn Bay, he indicated that the U.S. was working to boost its defense cooperation with Vietnam, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Panetta became the first U.S defense secretary to visit Cam Ranh Bay since the end of the Vietnam War. The bay was a major logistics hub for the U.S. military.
