New U.S. Ambassador Takes Up Post In Manila

The new U.S ambassador to the Philippines has arrived in Manila, reports the Philippine News Agency.
On July 22, MaryKay Loss Carlson presented her credentials to President Ferdinand Marcos at Malacanang Palace in Manila.
She succeeds Amb. Sung Kim, who held the post from 2016 to 2020.
Heather Variava, who served as charge d’affaires ad interim since September 2021, will remain in Manila as deputy chief of mission, the U.S. Embassy said.
