Navy Announces Pitch Challenge For Tank Inspection Technology

The U.S. Navy and National Security Innovation Network (NSIN) are holding a pitch challenge for researchers and inventors to show off autonomous tank inspection technologies, reports the service.

The Navy noted that it faces challenges from aging land-based bulk water and fuel storage as well as the complexity of shipboard tanks and voids. The service said it spends about $8 billion annually fighting corrosion on ships, aircraft and other military vehicles.
