A Nigerian military task force says it has killed 16 Islamist militants in a raid in the northeastern Borno state, reports Agence France-Presse.
The militants were preparing an attack in the city of Maiduguri, according to army officials.
Those killed were said to be members of the Boko Haram group, reported Nigeria's Punch.
Witnesses reported multiple explosions and soldiers with armored vehicles who cordoned off the area. The fighting reportedly lasted nearly five hours. ...
