Japanese and South Korean warships recently took part in a multinational exercise off the coast of Somalia, despite ongoing bilateral tensions, reports the Yonhap news agency (Seoul).
Germany, Spain and Oman also took part in the counter-piracy exercise, which ran from Sept. 23 to Sept. 26, the South Korean navy said on Monday.
The training covered a range of maritime missions, including visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) operations when dealing with pirates.
