The Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group has publicly executed 20 local Syrian men amid historic ruins in the city of Palmyra, says a monitoring group cited by the Voice of American News.
The execution took place in an ancient Roman amphitheater, said the U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Right on Wednesday.
The city's 2,000-year-old ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The men shot were charged with collaborating with the Syrian government.
