The U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security has made plans to increase its presence in Afghanistan, the Washington Post reports.
The department will deploy up to 54 additional agents to support its current contingent of 25 personnel in that country, said Secretary Janet Napolitano.
Napolitano was in Kabul on New Year's Eve.
Homeland Security focuses on supporting border control and training Afghan officials in anti-smuggling techniques, she said.
