The Hamas movement that rules Gaza says it has deployed security forces to the Israeli border to maintain a cease-fire agreement, Ha'aretz reports.
Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh issued the order Thursday. There has been increased violence between Israeli troops and Palestinian militants in recent weeks.
The deployment of the security personnel is intended to halt sporadic attacks by smaller militant groups that have ignored the cease-fire, Hamas officials said.
