Gunmen have shot and killed five Egyptian policemen and wounded three others at a checkpoint in the Sinai Peninsula, say Egyptian authorities, as cited by Ahram Online.
The attack took place late Wednesday in the provincial capital of Al-Arish, said the Interior Ministry.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Islamic State is suspected since it has been active in the area, reported Ynet News (Israel).
Security forces were said to be searching for the attackers.
