The Burmese government has signed an agreement with the United Nations promising an end to the recruitment and use of children as soldiers, reports UNICEF.
The action plan was signed in the capital Naypyitaw on Wednesday by Maj. Gen. Ngwe Thein, the head of the directorate of military strength, and Maj. Gen. Tin Maung Win, the vice adjutant general of the Burmese military, as well as Ashok Nigam, the U.N. resident coordinator and Ramesh Shrestha, the UNICEF representative. ...
