Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has accused the U.S. of slowing the planned creation of a safe zone in northeastern Syria along the border with Turkey, reports the Hurriyet Daily News (Istanbul).
The U.S. is stalling the implementation of the safe zone due to its ties with the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), said Cavusoglu. The Kurdish group has played a key role in combating the Islamic State in eastern Syria.
