The Indian Defense Ministry has approved several procurement programs totaling more than US$3.6 billion, reports the Press Trust of India.
The Defense Acquisition Council last week authorized an air force proposal to spend US$1.5 billion on 14 Dornier patrol aircraft and a new nationwide communications network.
The coast guard and navy were also given the go-ahead by the council to procure 30-mm guns for their vessels.
