Defense Ministry Seeks Submarines, New Ships

The Polish Ministry of Defense has released a long-term navy modernization plan, reports Defense News.

Under the ministry's plan, the navy would spend about 900 million zloty (US$290 million) per year to upgrade the fleet.

The program is divided into three stages: the first ends in 2022, the second in 2026 and the third in 2030.

The navy is expected to buy three submarines, including two by 2022. Three more ships will be purchased -- two by 2022 and a third by 2026,...
