The Japanese Ministry of Defense has awarded Hydroid, a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime, a contract for a fifth REMUS 600 autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), reports Kongsberg Maritime.
The system will be used for mine countermeasure missions, said company officials last week.
The REMUS 600 is designed for long-range missions and offers increased payload capacity and greater operating depth.
