The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense says it has decided to buy new utility helicopters from the U.S. to replace aging Soviet-era aircraft. Lithuania currently operates three Mi-8s that are approaching the end of their service lives and three AS 365N3+ Dauphin helicopters that are primarily assigned to search-and-rescue and environmental protection surveillance missions.
