More troops serving on domestic U.S. bases may soon be carrying arms, reports the Washington Post.
In a message released Thursday, Defense Secretary Ashton Carter gave top commanders more latitude on arming forces.
The recent attack on two military facilities in Chattanooga, Tenn, underscores "the need for DoD to revise its force protection and security policies, programs, and procedures, particularly for off-installation DoD facilities," said Carter.
