OVERVIEW
The Venezuelan navy is separated into four main commands: operations, training, personnel and logistics. The operations, or combat command, is further subdivided into five operational commands: fleet, marine infantry, naval aviation, coast guard and riverine forces. The country is also divided into seven naval zones: Center, Western, Eastern, Atlantic, Amazonas, Apure and Orinoco.
The marines were reorganized in 2001 into a single division.
