In early 2006, the armed forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska officially began the process of transitioning to an integrated military. Effective January 1, 2006, the security objectives of each military were replaced by state-level defense competencies. In addition, conscript and reserve forces were discharged.
