OVERVIEW
The primary mission of the North Korean air force is air defense of the homeland and missions in support of territorial integrity. Secondary missions include tactical air support to the army and the navy, transportation and logistical support and insertion of special operations forces.
Analysis suggests that the force is capable of defending North Korean airspace, but would struggle to penetrate South Korean air defenses in the event of an attack.
