Units of the Tanzanian army are split between the mainland and Zanzibar. Combined, the land forces consist of:
5 infantry brigades
1 tank brigade
4 artillery battalions
2 air defense artillery battalion
1 mortar battalion
2 anti-tank battalions
1 engineer regiment
1 logistics group
1 special forces unit
PERSONNEL STRENGTH
The total active manpower of the Tanzanian army is approximately 23,000.
