OVERVIEW

The Sudanese air force is responsible for all military aircraft, air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. The air force shares ground-based air defense missions with the army.

The Sudanese air force is organized into:

 2 fighter squadrons
 1 fighter/ground attack squadron
 3 ground attack squadrons
 #  multiple transport squadrons
 1 VIP transport unit
 1 fixed-wing training squadron
 2 attack helicopter squadrons
 2 transport helicopter squadrons
 5 air defense batteries
