OVERVIEW Ghana has a coastal defense navy without marines or naval aviation. The southern coastline is divided into two commands: Eastern and Western, totaling six patrol and costal combatants. The Ghanaian navy provides costal defense, protection for fisheries and security for Lake Volta. The Eastern Command is also nominally responsible for the security of Lake Volta, although the probability of conflict on the lake is extremely low.
