OVERVIEW The Angolan army has undergone numerous reforms and restructuring efforts since the conclusion of its 27-year civil war in 2002. Gen. Jorge Barros, the former army chief of staff, outlined new priorities for the service in January 2008, including staff training, pacifying Cabinda and improving conditions for the troops.
