Ukraine was a focus of the NATO summit in Vilnius, the Lithuanian
capital, on July 11-12, with the alliance pledging to continue to support
Kyiv in its fight against the Russian invasion. Above, NATO Secretary-
General Jens Stoltenberg formally welcomed Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelensky to Vilnius on July 12 ahead of the first meeting of
the NATO-Ukraine Council. The council is among NATO’s efforts to
bring Ukraine closer to the alliance ahead of anticipated membership.
