Vice Defense Minister To Serve As Defense Adviser In Japan

Lithuanian Vice Minister of Defense Margiris Abukevicius has left his post to take up a new job in Japan, reports the Baltic Times.
On Dec. 2, Abukevicius announced that he had resigned as vice defense minister and would take up a new post as the defense adviser at the Lithuanian Embassy in Japan in January.
“I am leaving with an important mission to contribute to strengthening the defense element of the strategic partnership with Japan and to build defense ties with other like-minded countries in the Indo-Pacific,” he wrote on Facebook.
Abukevicius was appointed vice defense minister in 2020 with responsibility for international cooperation and cybersecurity.
