Admiral Mike Gilday, chief of naval operations said the US had to consider the possibility of Beijing taking action against Taiwan sooner than analysts expect, reports the Financial Times (London).
Speaking to the Atlantic Council, Gilday said “When we talk about the 2027 window, in my mind that has to be a 2022 window or potentially a 2023 window.”
The US Congress will soon vote on a measure authorizing US$10 billion in weapons funding for Taiwan over the next five years.
