Haitian security forces recaptured a key fuel depot from criminal gangs last week, reports the BBC News.
The Varreux terminal was seized a coalition of militant criminals known as G9 in September, leading to a standoff which saw the gangs block delivery of fuel, food and medicine.
The terminal supplies most of the oil products in Haiti. The blockade forced many businesses to close while complicating the delivery of fuel products and bottled drinking water, contributing to an outbreak of cholera.
On Nov. 2, police launched an operation to retake the terminal. On Nov. 3, officials told Agence France-Presse that police had taken control of the facilities and were clearing the roads.
Authorities provided no information on any possible casualties.
