In a first for naval warfare, a Ukrainian patrol boat was struck by a Russian loitering munition, reports Naval News.
According to footage published by Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency on Nov. 4, a suspected Lancet loitering munition struck an unmoving Gyurza-M patrol boat in the port side.
The attack occurred in the Kakhovka Reservoir on the Dnieper River, according to a Russian analyst.
Neither Russia nor Ukraine has confirmed the incident. The extent of the damage to the boat was not immediately clear.
This is the first known attack on a naval vessel by a loitering munition, analysts said.
