More than 100 mobilized men have gone on strike at a training center in central Russia citing a lack of pay, reports the Moscow Times.
The draftees from the ethnic-minority republic of Chuvashia held a protest on Tuesday night at their training center in Ulyanovsk demanding the US$3,170 payment they were promised, reported the Russian 7x7 news website.
The demonstration was broken up by security forces.
On Wednesday morning, the men began a “total strike,” refusing to participate in training sessions.
Unnamed sources told the Sota news outlet that shooting classes at the training center had been canceled and the weapons storage areas locked.
