Northrop Grumman has announced another successful test flight for its modernized anti-radar missile.
The fourth flight test of the AGM-88G Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile Extended-Range (AARGM-ER) demonstrated its ability to detect, identify, locate and engage critical air defense targets from an extended range, the company said in a release on Thursday.
During the Nov. 30 trial at the Point Mugu Sea Range off the coast of Southern California, the missile was launched from an F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, successfully striking an operationally-representative moving maritime target.
The test was designed to prove the ability of the AARGM-ER to engage moving maritime targets, Navy program officials said.
Northrop Grumman is under contract to deliver production AARGM-ERs for initial operational capability fielding within the next two years.
The system is slated to be integrated onto F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler and F-35 aircraft.
