Bulgarian lawmakers have approved an initial batch of military aid for Ukraine, reports Reuters.
On Friday, the Bulgarian Parliament approved a list of arms on Friday. The specifics of the package are classified, but government officials said it would mainly consist of light weaponry and ammunition.
The aid is in line with Ukrainian priorities, although Sofia cannot afford to send its S-300 air defense systems or MiG-29 fighter and Su-25 strike jets, which Ukraine requested, said Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov.
A total of 148 lawmakers out of 240 voted in favor of the aid. The Socialist and pro-Russian Revival party voted against the measure.
