Northrop Grumman has selected Leidos to provide sensors for missile-tracking satellites, reports Space News.
In July, Northrop Grumman received a $617 million contract from the U.S. Space Development Agency for 14 infrared-sensing satellites for low orbit missile defense as part of the Tracking Layer Tranche 1 program.
Leidos was previously selected by SpaceX to build sensors for four Tracking Layer Tranche 0 satellites.
The sensors for the Tranche 1 spacecraft will provide greater coverage in a smaller, lighter package with reduced power requirements, according to Leidos.
