Kalyani Strategic Systems Wins Export Order For Howitzers

Kalyani Strategic Systems, Pune, India, says it has won an export contract for artillery systems, reports the Hindustan Times (New Delhi).

The US$155.5 million order from an unnamed customer is the first export order for 155-mm howitzers from an Indian company, the newspaper said.

The order will be executed over a three-year period, reported the Press Trust of India, citing a Bharat Forge release. Bharat Forge owns Kalyani Strategic Systems.

The number of systems involved was not disclosed. The company said only that the order was to a “non-conflict zone".

The Hindustan Times said Kalyanti Strategic Systems was previously in talks with Saudi Arabia for the sale of its 155-mm/52-caliber Bharat 52 howitzer.
