The foreign ministers of Armenia and Iran have celebrated the opening of the Iranian consulate in Kapan, near the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, reports the MassisPost, an Armenian newspaper in Pasadena, Calif.
The consulate would be led by Consul-General Morteza Abedin Varamin, who the Iranian foreign ministry called a “professional diplomat.”
Both ministers expressed their confidence in the strengthening of bilateral ties and a positive outlook in the areas of trade, tourism, energy and culture.
Iranian officials also emphasized Tehran's commitment to Armenian security.
