The Finnish government has requested to buy guided rockets from the U.S., reports the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
The potential US$535 million deal covers 150 M30A1 and/or M30A2 Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) missile pods; 250 M31A1 GMLRS Unitary (GMLRS-U) and/or M31A2 GMLRS-U rockets; and support services.
The possible sale would increase Finland’s GMLRS rocket stocks and bolster its self-defense capabilities.
There is a request pending for 50 percent of this contract to be delivered from U.S. stockpiles, which may determine the final composition of delivered weapons, the agency said.
