Dozens Of Youths Attempting To Join Al-Shabaab Captured

The Ethiopian military says it has apprehended scores of youths who were attempting to cross the border into Somalia to join militant groups there, reports the Shabelle Media Network (Mogadishu).

The army was deployed along the border with Somalia after repeated efforts by the Al-Shabaab terrorist group to take its fight into Ethiopia, officials said.

More than 100 youths have been arrested while seeking to join the militants, said the officials.

The arrests were made possible through community cooperation.

In July, Al-Shabaab conducted its first cross-border attack into Ethiopia’s Bakool region.
