Defense Spending To Increase To 2 Percent Of GDP

Turkey plans to increase its defense budget to support research and development, defense projects and the military services, reports the Daily Sabah (Istanbul).

Budget documents estimate that the Turkish defense budget will account for 2 percent of GDP from 2023 to 2025.

Ankara plans to incrementally reach the benchmark, starting with US$14.4 billion in defense spending in 2023; US$17.6 billion in 2024; and US$20.3 billion in 2025.

Turkey includes foreign aid in its defense spending data, noted experts.
