Romanian Defense Minister Vasile Dyncu has officially submitted his resignation, saying he cannot work with President Klaus Iohannis, reports the Euro Weekly News (Spain).
On Monday, Dyncu announced that he had submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca.
He said that his resignation was necessary to preserve “fluidity” throughout the chain of command and not block projects “necessary for the optimal functioning of the Ministry of National Defense and the Romanian army.”
Dyncu had previously made controversial statements implying that Ukraine might need to cede territory to Russia if peace talks were to be successful in contrast to Iohannis, who expressed support for Ukraine and its right to fight for its territory and negotiate with whoever it wanted.
