Deal Inked For Spanish Mortars

The Lithuanian Defense Materiel Agency has signed a contract with a Spanish firm for towed mortar systems, reports the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.

The 9.8 million euro (US$11.7 million) contract with EXPAL Systems covers an unspecified number of 120-mm EXPAL 120-MX2-SM towed mortars.

Deliveries are scheduled over two years, with the first half of the order to be handed over by the end of 2023.

The mortar has a range of 4.9 miles (8 km) and will significantly improve the indirect-fire capabilities of the Lithuanian armed forces, said Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas.
