The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center says it has completed acoustic testing for the latest model of the F-15 Eagle fighter jet.

The F-15EX Eagle II, powered by two GE-129 engines, completed the sound testing at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., over the last two weeks.

The testing included ground trials at idle and with engines running as well as flights at various heights and configurations.

The goal was to acquire a baseline of sound data to predict noise levels where the aircraft will be stationed, Air Force officials said.

Blue Ridge Research and Consulting used over 100 microphones during the ground testing and 35 microphones spread over the ground to capture noise data from more than 70 F-15EX flyovers.
